Great feast of the Kenyan Mission on
this Sunday 1st May 2016! The District Superior, Fr. Loic Duverger, has come to
celebrate the solemn mass, assisted by Fr. Becher, the Sisters’ chaplain, and
Fr. James Ngaruro, our Kenyan confrere.
At the beginning of the ceremony,
Fr. Duverger unveiled and solemnly blessed the new statue of St Joseph,
purchased and offered by the parishioners.
After Mass, the priests and the faithful
have shared a parish meal, famously known as “nyama choma” or Kenyan barbecue. It was not a fat cow, but a nice goat that two
butchers have slaughtered and cooked for about 200 assistants.
The older parishioners have given
some talks to express their gratitude to Fr. Duverger who will leave his
position as District Superior on 15th August.
This celebration was also an
opportunity to launch the new phase of the school building construction, which
was stopped for about a year. What is surer than placing the site under the
protective sight of St Joseph the Worker?
